Siemens Announces Product Phase-Out for SINAMICS G180 Effective October 1, 2024.

The SINAMICS G180, particularly the air-cooled compact devices and cabinet systems, will reach milestone P.M400 as of October 1, 2024. This means that Siemens will end active marketing of the product, although new orders can still be placed until September 30, 2026. During this phase, the products remain available as new parts; however, Siemens will no longer manufacture new units after that date. 

This milestone is crucial for long-term operations in existing systems. Once the discontinuation milestone (P.M410) is reached on October 1, 2026, only spare parts and service support will be available. Technicians and maintenance personnel will need to pay particular attention to spare part availability in order to ensure continued system reliability.

After October 1, 2026, the SINAMICS G180 will enter the spare parts phase. At this point, Siemens will no longer manufacture complete G180 units, and the focus will shift to repairs and spare parts supply, The final milestone, P.M490, scheduled for October 1, 2035, will mark the end of spare parts availability and official support. 

This phase is especially important for purchasing managers, who must ensure the economic planning of the system. Spare parts availability and associated costs will become critical factors from this point onward.

The successor to the SINAMICS G180 is the SINAMICS G220, which has been specially developed for industrial applications in the process industry. The G220 offers enhanced features and improved energy efficiency. Siemens plans a gradual market introduction, with various models such as the General Purpose Drive and the Clean Power Drive already available. The G220 will be the recommended long-term replacement for the G180.
