Siemens 3RK13 M200D Motor Starter – Product Phase-Out as of 01/08/2025

The announcement concerns the Siemens M200D motor starters of product group 3RK13. These assemblies from the field of drive technology are used for the decentralised control of motors, primarily in conveyor systems and production lines. The technology allows space-saving installation directly in the field.

Which SIRIUS MD200D motor starters are affected?

A total of 147 Siemens items are affected by the product phase-out.

These include, amongst others:

What does the product lifecycle planning for SIRIUS M200D motor starters look like?

The Siemens M200D motor starters 3RK13 are scheduled as follows:

  • PM400 (phase-out announcement) – 01/08/2025
  • PM410 (discontinuation, no new spare parts available) – 01/10/2026
  • PM490 (discontinuation, no new spare parts available) – 01/10/2027

No official successor has been specified by Siemens. Only a few alternative M200D variants with different packaging units are available.

Until the PM410 milestone is reached on 01/10/2026, the affected Siemens M200D motor starters will remain available as new parts. From that point, only spare parts supply will be provided.

From PM400 onwards, a ten-year spare parts commitment applies. For the M200D motor starters, this ends at the latest with PM490 on 01/10/2027. After that, no spare parts will be provided.

For the M200D product group, Siemens does not specify a direct successor. In some cases, identical products are available with a different packaging unit.

EICHLER reliably repairs Siemens M200D motor starters beyond the official discontinuation date. In addition, tested spare parts and an exchange pool are available. This ensures system availability even when Siemens no longer provides support.

Significant cost savings can be achieved through repair and spare parts services. Investments in complete conversions can thus be postponed.

How should action be taken now?

The Siemens announcement of 11/09/2025 clearly highlights the need for action. Affected companies must develop spare parts strategies at an early stage. Maintenance personnel ensure system availability through timely spare parts stocking and repair planning. Purchasers review cost efficiency and avoid unnecessary new investments.

EICHLER provides the right solution to ensure reliable operation beyond the discontinuation phase for Siemens M200D motor starters 3RK13.

About the author

Since 2015, I have been working in marketing at EICHLER GmbH. Right at the start, I soldered a submitted S5 CPU module labeled “Made in Western Germany.” This experience sparked my enthusiasm for sustainability and repair in automation technology. Until 2024, I served as editor-in-chief of the customer magazine "News from maintenance", passionately reporting on people and solutions in industrial maintenance. In the new digital magazine, I now focus on Product Change Notifications (PCN) and Product Discontinuation Notifications (PDN).
