SIMATIC S7-300 / ET 200M – type discontinuation (P.M410) effective october 2025

As of 1 October 2025, Siemens will reach the type discontinuation (P.M410) for the SIMATIC S7-300 system and ET 200M. From that point onwards, more than 267 assemblies will only be available as spare parts. Operators and maintenance teams should act in good time.

Why is the P.M410 milestone so crucial?

On 1 October, the SIMATIC S7-300 and ET 200M will reach the P.M410 status. This means that from this point on, the components will no longer be available as new parts and will only be offered in limited quantities as spare parts. As seen in similar cases, Siemens will significantly increase the prices of spare parts. These prices increases are based on the additional efforts required for storage, production and logistics of discontinued products. For operators and maintenance teams, this will represent a considerable financial burden if they do not take timely precautions.

What steps should operators take by 2025?

Prioritise spare parts planning to avoid unforeseen cost increases, maintenance teams and operator should increase their spare parts stocks in 2025. A thorough analysis of the installed systems and careful demand planning for the coming years are essential.

EICHLER supports companies with comprehensive advice and access to a broad stock range for S7-300 and ET 200M.

Legend of product statuses:

  • P.M300: Regularly available, actively marketed
  • P.M400: Product phase-out, no longer listed in the catalogue
  • P.M410: Spare parts only available, significant price increases

With the type discontinuation, regular production ceases. Siemens increases the prices for spare parts due to higher storage and production costs.

From 1 October 2025, the affected products will only be available in quantities typical for spare parts. Extensions or new procurements will no longer be possible.

EICHLER offers stock analysis, the securing of spare parts, and comprehensive repair services to help ease the transition.

Conclusion: 2025 is the time to act

With the arrival of P.M410, the availability of S7-300 and ET 200M will be drastically restricted, while the cost of spare parts will rise. Maintenance teams and operators should plan ahead to save costs and minimise the risk of breakdowns by strategically increasing their spare parts stock.

EICHLER supports companies as a reliable partner with expert knowledge, an extensive spare parts inventory and rapid repair services. This ensures that system availability is maintained even after 2025.

Since 2015, I have been working in marketing at EICHLER GmbH. Right at the start, I soldered a submitted S5 CPU module labeled “Made in Western Germany.” This experience sparked my enthusiasm for sustainability and repair in automation technology. Until 2024, I served as editor-in-chief of the customer magazine "News from maintenance", passionately reporting on people and solutions in industrial maintenance. In the new digital magazine, I now focus on Product Change Notifications (PCN) and Product Discontinuation Notifications (PDN).
