Product discontinuation for Stöber converter series FDS5000 June 2026

The manufacturer Stöber has officially announced the discontinuation of the FDS5000 frequency converter series as of 30 June 2026. For two decades, these devices have reliably powered applications such as extrusion and cartoning. The decision to discontinue the series is based on the increasing shortage of electronic components and rising service costs at Stöber.

Which Stöber converter are being discontinued, and where are they used?

The Stöber FDS5000 series comprises eight types, including the models FDS5004A, FDS5007A, FDS5008A, FDS5015A, FDS5022A, FDS5040A, FDS5055A, and FDS5075A. These converters are essential in many applications across mechanical and system engineering.

Typical areas of application include tube bending, cartoning, extrusion, and driving vertical or horizontal turntables. The frequency converters offer extensive safety features such as STO and SS1 in accordance with SIL 3, PL e. They also support fieldbus connections for EtherCAT®, PROFINET®, PROFIBUS DP® and CANopen®.

As of June 30, 2026, the series will no longer be newly produced. Spare parts will remain available directly from Stöber for another four years. System operators should assess early on which replacement devices will be required.

Until June 2030, Stöber will supply spare parts. Beyond that, EICHLER will continue to provide support through a comprehensive spare parts inventory and professional repair service. This ensures long-term system availability.

Yes. With professional maintenance, repair, and preventive servicing, the operation of these devices can be significantly extended. EICHLER offers comprehensive services for this series, including full-service spare parts management even after the official production has ended.

EICHLER enabled the continued operation of discontinued devices at predictable costs. This eliminates the need for expensive new investments or system modifications. For purchasers, it represents a cost-effective alternative.

Why is the Stöber FDS5000 converters series being discontinued?

The frequency converters of the Stöber FDS5000 series have been on the market for 20 years. Many electronic components are now difficult to obtain or only available at high cost. For this reason, the manufacturer has decided to phase out the entire product line by 30 June 2026. Operators are being given one year's notice to plan suitable replacement solutions.

What are the consequences of the status change for operations?

As of the deadline, no new devices from the FDS5000 series will be sold. Only spare parts will remain available from the manufacturer for an additional four years. System operators must assess in advance whether stock devices or alternative solutions need to be produced.

What options does EICHLER offer for continued operation?

EICHLER supports maintenance personnel, technicians and purchasers with a wide range of services, including:

  • Repairs for all models of the Stöber FDS5000 series
  • Preventive maintenance and inspections
  • Storage and tested replacement units
  • Spare parts procurement beyond the official product lifecycle
  • Tailored advice on optimising system performance

These services help ensure continued operation well beyond 2030 and offer a cost-effective alternative to major reinvestments.
