Fault description Possible solution
Why do I no longer have a connection after unplugging and reconnecting my Mobile Panel? Siemens specifies a short restart readiness period for the system. After very brief power interruptions, it may be necessary to disconnect the connection cable, and after unplugging, approximately one second should be allowed before reconnecting. Afterwards, check the transfer settings, MPI/PROFIBUS parameters, the correct DP connection cable, and ensure that only one connection box type is used within the installation.
Why does the Mobile Panel not communicate with the PLC via the DP Plus Connection Box? For PROFIBUS DP, only the approved combinations of DP Connection Box and DP connection cable may be used. In addition, the MPI/PROFIBUS DP parameters should be checked within the transfer settings. Only shielded standard cables should be used, and both the power supply and equipotential bonding must be correctly implemented. In many cases, the cause is not the connection box itself but an unsuitable combination of cabling, interface parameters or wiring.
Why does the STOP circuit not behave as expected? With a DP Plus Connection Box, the STOP or emergency-stop circuit remains closed as long as the Mobile Panel is connected and the STOP button has not been pressed. When the STOP button is pressed, the circuit opens. However, if the Mobile Panel is unplugged, the circuit closes again and any previous STOP condition is cancelled. Siemens also specifies a delay of approximately 100 ms between actuation of the STOP button and the response of the contacts. Conductive residues such as wire offcuts must not come into contact with electrical circuits. In addition, ESD precautions must be observed, and the protective cover must not be removed.
