Reforming

Mobile converter reforming: ensuring your spare units work when you need them.

When new or used converters are stored without power for extended periods, the electrolytic capacitors inside can deteriorate unnoticed and their insulating layer can degrade. If such a unit is powered up without preparation in the event of a fault, the weakened components are suddenly exposed to hundreds of volts. As a result, the capacitors can overheat rapidly and may even explode. This can cause serious secondary damage within the control cabinet and significantly extend production breakdowns.

The solution is known as reforming: by applying a DC voltage slowly and in a controlled manner, we regenerate the oxide layer of the capacitors and fully restore their original component characteristics.

EICHLER offers two flexible options using proprietary, field-proven technologies: you can either send individual units to our Service Centre for reforming, or our technical on-site service can come directly to your premises with mobile reforming systems. This allows us to reform entire stocks of spare units as well as heavy, bulky converters directly at your site - efficiently, safely and without any logistical effort on your part.
