Product Discontinuation: Siemens SIMOTION C240 and C240 PN

As of October 1, 2024, Siemens has discontinued the SIMOTION C variants. This affects all controllers of the SIMOTION C240 series and their MultiAxes bundles, which are no longer available as new units.

Baseline

On October 1, 2024, Siemens discontinued the SIMOTION C variants C240 and C240 PN, along with their MultiAxes bundles. The affected controllers from the SIMOTION C family have thus entered milestone P.M 410, meaning they will only be available as spare parts while stocks last. Siemens has not announced a direct successor for this product line, which significantly increases the challenge for operators of existing systems.

For us at Eichler GmbH, this product discontinuation represents a particular challenge but also an opportunity to demonstrate our strengths. The analog module SM335, used as a peripheral module in the SIMOTION C system, has also been disontinued. With milestone P.M 410, only spare parts supply will be provided, so it is no longer possible to purchase these products as new units. For our customers - especially technicians and maintenance personnel - it will be crucial to focus on alternative solutions t ensure system availability.

At EICHLER, we offer a tailored solution. As specialists in repairing and selling discontinued automation technology, we will continue to provide repair services for SIMOTION C components and the SM335 module. This means extending the lifespan of our customers' existing systems and ensuring system availability - even without new parts being available from Siemens.

What changes does the product discontinuation bring?

As of the product discontinuation on October 1, 2024, the Siemens SIMOTION C series enters phase P.M 410. This means that all affected items will only be available as spare parts, provided that stocks last. New units can no longer be ordered. For technicians and maintenance personnel, the focus will therefore be on using existing parts and repairs to maintain system availability. At Eichler, we are well prepared for this phase and support our customers with comprehensive repair service.

What alternatives are available for the SIMOTION C controllers?

Siemens has not announced a direct successor for the SIMOTION C variants. This creates a challenging situation for operatos, especially when existing systems need to continue running reliably. At EICHLER, we offer an alternative to coslty new investments through our comprehensive repair expertise.

How does EICHLER support spare parts supply?

Eichler GmbH specializes in the repair and preservation of discontinued automation technology. Regarding the SIMOTION C controllers, we will continue to provide repair refurbishment services, enabling extended use of existing systems. This does not only save costs but also reduces the risk of production downtime.

About the author

Since 2015, I have been working in marketing at EICHLER GmbH. Right at the start, I soldered a submitted S5 CPU module labeled “Made in Western Germany.” This experience sparked my enthusiasm for sustainability and repair in automation technology. Until 2024, I served as editor-in-chief of the customer magazine "News from maintenance", passionately reporting on people and solutions in industrial maintenance. In the new digital magazine, I now focus on Product Change Notifications (PCN) and Product Discontinuation Notifications (PDN).
